Three Outdoor Wedding Venue Tips

Posted on: 25 November 2015

An outdoor wedding can be a beautiful option because it provides natural scenery, and outdoor areas can typically accommodate more guests. If you want an outdoor wedding, it's best to find wedding venues that specialize in putting together outdoor weddings. A wedding venue that has experience with outdoor weddings is more likely to know how to avoid many types of problems that you can run into in an outdoor setting. Here are three more tips to help you plan the best outdoor wedding possible:

Have Backup:

When you choose a wedding venue that has experience with outdoor weddings, they typically have backup plans ready and available in case it rains. The venue will either have an indoor location or large tents that can be set up for both the reception and the ceremony. However, an indoor location may be better than just setting up a tent, especially if the rain is heavy or there is a thunderstorm.

If you do want to choose a wedding venue that doesn't have an indoor location, then you want to be sure that the tent that is set up is sturdy, will have outdoor flooring instead of guests having to walk in mud and wet grass, and will have the option to act as a completely indoor space. Tents with drop down sides that have windows are the best way to protect guests from heavy rain while still being able to enjoy some of the outdoor scenery.

Choose a Caterer With Outdoor Wedding Experience:

When you are choosing a caterer, be sure that you choose a company that has experience serving food in an outdoor location. They will know what types of food are the best to have outdoors that won't easily melt in the heat, and what type of food will be best for guests in cold weather. A caterer with this type of experience can suggest the types of foods that are preferable, and you can make your decision based on that.

Bug Repellents:

When you are visiting with an outdoor wedding venue, ask if they have any way to prevent pests such as flies from disturbing guests and the food that is being served. The wedding venue should have some kind of bug repellent, such as bug zappers that are set up around the reception area, but are attractive enough to not distract from the scenery. They should act more like lampposts.

By keeping some of these outdoor wedding venue tips in mind, you can be sure that you have the best outdoor wedding possible that everyone can enjoy.
